Icons and other symbols
This December, as we contemplate the meaning behind the sanctification of the enduring Christmas metaphor, some reflection on a few other important and enduring icons might also be in order - and when I talk about icons, I don't mean the little pictures on the desktop of your computer.
Paid maternity leave 2009
A lot has happened since I last sat down to blog. The government has made some further steps towards gender equality in Australia, and the Paid Maternity Leave in 2009 campaign is gaining momentum.
Learning from Germaine Greer
The way Germaine Greer gets reported is always such a lesson to women of opinion. Her latest opinion piece is a criticism of the outfit Michelle Obama wore on election night. Personally, I'm more interested in which of the American Republican women are wearing Sarah Palin's cast offs!

Election time NOW
I have been reluctant to share my views about the US elections due to fear that I might use offensive language.
Melting moments
Isn't this great? After a few years of increasing representation of women in leadership roles, Australia (where 49% of ASX200 companies have a woman on their Board) now has slipped back behind USA (88.2%), UK (76%), South Africa (62.4%) and Canada (52.8%).
Flexibility debate
Tuesday night's panel (Michael Rose, Todd Sampson and Jane Caro) discussed the pros and cons of flexible work practices at an evening sponsored by ANZ for NFAW in Sydney.
