This is interesting - according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.

Feminism is not a popular word

My dictionary defines feminism as the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social and economic equality to men. In 2006 I discovered just how negatively this word is regarded by many young women through a survey conducted for a feminist organisation. I was recently reminded of this when 2020women's youngest Board member suggested that we refer to ourselves as a women's organisation rather than a feminist organisation.

Talkback feminism

I hope to prod, poke and probe current thinking about what it is like to be an Australian woman.  Feminist issues affect everyone in Australia, but often are presented using complex and confused language that relies on feminist jargon.  I want to unravel some of this to make feminist issues of interest to everyone.
