Women's health
There is one collection of information about women's health that seems to have absolutely all the bases covered: Women's Health Victoria.
This web site is run by a non-government organisation and targets the women of Victoria, but the information available on a range of issues in their Clearinghouse Connectors page is comprehensive and authoritative.
Issues that are covered include, amongst other things:
- climate change
- diabetes
- healthy eating
- cardiovascular disease
- abortion
- ageing
- alcohol
- body image
- breast cancer
- depression, and
- menopause
There is a lot more - they have a system of allowing you to collect articles in an InfoCart. This didn't work for me, but it is still pretty easy to download the information you are after.
The South Australian Government also run a good web site: Women's Health Statewide. This site has a major focus on issues of sexual violence and women's mental health, and is staffed by social workers, a doctor, nurses, administrative staff and project workers.
Another good web site on health is also from the Victorian government: the Better Health Channel. This web site provides online consumer focused health and medical information. All information is quality-assured, reliable and regularly reviewed. Better Health Channel content is developed in consultation with content partners - reputable health organisations with specialised knowledge in a particular topic area. Try it.
The NSW government also runs a web site which includes health information: - it isn't bad, but I prefer the Victorian information. The Queensland government's Health Information Directory is also quite good as is the Government of Western Australia's Department of Health web site.
